About the artist:

Hi! I'm Betsy Connell, I live in Plymouth Mass. My husband and I have two grown sons, and a grandchild. We all love the beach and all of us are drawn to the beach and the ocean as I'm sure you are. I am drawn to the ocean because it holds a rare balance of serenity and power that speaks to something primal within us. Its rhythmic waves and endless horizon create a sense of calm that quiets the mind, while its vastness reminds us both of our smallness and our connection to something greater. The ocean’s beauty, shifting colors, dancing light, and ever-changing textures invites reflection and curiosity, grounding us in the present moment. At the same time, its immense strength commands respect, reminding us of nature’s force and resilience. In its duality of peace and power, the ocean becomes a refuge, a teacher, and a source of inspiration all at once.

The Story behind the bucket..

My Mom always signed every card, notes and email, “With Buckets of Love, Mom”.

When I was interested in learning to paint as a teenager, she found someone to teach, coach and encourage me. I’ve always felt the rhythm of painting to be very much like the rhythm of the ocean, which inspires me, and refreshes my creativity.

My Mom taught me the joy of being connected to nature, and a deep love and respect for the ocean. I have such wonderful memories of being at the beach as a child, experiencing the pure joy of exploring the shore line, tidal pools, collecting starfish, shells, rocks, and as I grew older, sea glass, and I now have sea glass from all over the world.
